ABNORMAL FLOW AMOUNT OF EGR COOLER
(DTC CODE P0400 / DIAGNOSIS MONITOR CODE 85)

1. Inspection EGR cooler gas passage.
   

   

   Blockage caused by soot or contaminants at the gas passage inlet and outlet of the EGR cooler.

2. Inspection the air flow sensor.
3. Inspection the boost sensor.
4. Inspection the intake air temperature sensor.

 

NO Repair or replace faulty parts.	YES Proceed to [2] Check for EGR valve link

1. Remove the EGR valve and check for any foreign matters.

NO Remove foreign matters, if any. Faulty EGR valve	YES Proceed to [3] Measuring voltage between sensor terminals

1. Set the starter key to "LOCK" position.
2. Disconnect the EGR valve connector.
3. Measure voltage between the terminals EGRV and EGRG of the EGR valve connector (engine sub harness side).
   

   
   

   Standard value: 16-32 V

NO Faulty in harness Faulty battery	YES Proceed to [4] Use the HINO-DX to inspect the EGR valve.

1. Inspection the EGR valve.
   

   

   Blockage caused by soot or contaminant in the EGR valve passage.

2. Connect the PC DIAGNOSIS TOOL (HINO-DX).

   
   

3. Set the starter key "ON" position.
4. Functional check
5. Inspect the EGR.
6. For the forcibly driven item, check the data monitor value to see if the opening of the EGR valve is driven as indicated by the specified value.

 

NO Faulty EGR valve	YES Faulty in harness and/or engine ECU.

1. Confirm the DTC P0400 is inactive

   • Start the engine and let it idling condition.
   • Verify the DTC P0400 is inactive.

   

2. DTC Clear

   • Clear the DTC with Hino DX
   • Confirm the same DTC is not reoccurred

   

P0400 is reoccur: Return to first process Other DTC appear: Refer to concerned Trouble shooting
