MALFUNCTION OF VNT ACTUATOR
(DTC CODE P0045 / DIAGNOSIS MONITOR CODE 35)

1. Use the HINO-DX to inspect the VNT.

   

Standard value: Followability to a target value must be achieved within 3 seconds.

NO Go to [4] Measuring continuity between terminals.	YES Proceed to [2] Checking engagement of connectors

1. Check engagements of the VNT ECU connector and VNT actuator connector.
2. Set the starter key to the "LOCK" position.
3. Turn the starter key "ON" and check diagnosis codes.
   

   Standard: No diagnosis codes must be indicated.

NO Go to [3] Measuring resistance between sensor terminals..	YES Normal

1. Set the starter key to the "LOCK" position and disconnect the engine ECU connector.
2. Turn the starter key "ON" and measure voltage between the 13th and 14th terminals of the VNT ECU connector (vehicle harness side).
   

   

   Standard value: 19 V or more

NO Faulty harness	YES Proceed to [4] Measuring continuity between terminals

1. Set the starter key to the "LOCK" position and measure continuity between the terminals of the VNT ECU connector (vehicle harness side) and VNT actuator connector (vehicle harness side) as listed below.

Standard: Conducting

NO Faulty harness	YES Faulty turbocharger

1. Confirm the DTC P0045 is inactive

   • Start the engine and let it idling condition.
   • Verify the DTC P0045 is inactive.

   

2. DTC Clear

   • Clear the DTC with Hino DX
   • Confirm the same DTC is not reoccurred

   

P0045 is reoccur: Return to first process Other DTC appear: Refer to concerned Trouble shooting
